Fortune Cookies

To do this craft project you will need:

  • the whites of 3 eggs
  • 50g of butter or some analogue thereof (melted)
  • half a cup of icing sugar
  • half a cup of flour
  • a collection of cosmological witticisms on appropriately sized bits of paper

  1. Preheat oven to 180C.
  2. Beat egg whites until just frothy
  3. Add butter or analogue thereof and icing sugar, stirring until the mixture is smooth
  4. Add flour and keep stirring
  5. When done stirring allow the mixture to sit for 15 minutes.
  6. Pour 1 1/2 teaspoon circles onto a baking tray and bake until they're starting to brown at the edges (around 5 minutes)
  7. Peel off the tray, place the fortune in the middle, fold in half then fold in half again.
  8. Pop 'em into a shot glass or egg cup or similar to hold the shape while they cool.

Note: Although this recipe is neither vegan or gluten free those with specialised dietary requirements are invited to recognise that consumption of the cookie is not a prerequisite of receiving the beneficial advice of the oracle.

"I always forget the good bits and loose the citations but I'm sure that I read somewhere that Patti Smith said that the three greatest art forms are sculpture, housework, and rock and roll. I don't claim to know too much about that sort of thing but it sounds like it could work."
